John M. Kitchen
The John M. Kitchen Special Needs Center, located in Indianapolis, Indiana, was envisioned by John M. Kitchen before his death in December 1999, as a way to encourage the work of non-profit organizations providing special needs trust services for people with disabilities. As a parent of a child with disabilities, he understood firsthand the benefits of special needs trust organizations.
As a young man, Mr. Kitchen served as a US Army Captain and was a Veteran of World War II. After that he became a prominent Indianapolis attorney.
During his 60 year legal career, Mr. Kitchen served as President on the Indianapolis Bar Association and as a member of the American Bar Association House of Delegates. He was a Marion County Probate Judge. Mr. Kitchen was a long time counselor concerning many philanthropic matters in Indianapolis.
It is because of John M. Kitchen’s vision that the Special Needs Center exists today.
